I'm very new to the sim world and have purchased a g27 wheel and use it for mostly dirt racing mods. I've been reading around and is it correct that the "rates" don't affect anything while using a wheel? I was getting the impression that it has no affect towards how the pedals and steering act. Also I was wondering since it doesn't affect it how I get my steering a bit less erratic. It isn't very smooth and seems to move so fast and quick that I can't hold a consistent line. Thanks for any help.

Have a search around the forum there is a lot of controller info, one quick thing to try in rFactor ingame settings I think there is a "reverse effects" button or a slider, try checking that then try the steering.
