Did you try to put the DEBRIS Instances into the Cockpit section?

Example:

the image is cockpit view after arriving at pits
 
i have tried everything, and your only limited to wings, hood, bumpers.
i tried to add debris instances in the cockpit section, and it really messes things up.
tested this on my Karts.
