I am trying to change the mask on a dds texture file (dxt5) using paint shop 14 with nvidia plugin. I delete the previous mask, load the new one, save it as alpha channel and then try to save the file as dds in dxt5. The problem is that somehow the mask gets merged into the backround... that way when i load the new file the alpha is correct but the backround looks like blanked out and merged with the mask.. could anyone please elaborate on how to do it the right way?
