FFB and Windows hibernate

TonyRickard

Here is a bit of an odd question.

Using Vista I can successfully pause rFactor mid race and hibernate the PC. Resume Windows at another time and carry on. However, the FFB kind of disappears. Is there anything outside of rFactor I can do to get it back. Simply exiting the race and restarting the session works but that rather defeats the object!

Have you tried assigning a key to 'Reset FFB' in the Controls menu?

Thanks, I just tried that but no luck. It goes into a centering spring state on resume. Disabling/re-enabling Realfeel has no effect. I have to exit to the rFactor menu and restart a session to re-enable ffb.

What about unplugging the wheel and plugging it in again before you continue?

No, the only way to get it back is to restart rFactor or go into the control settings and make a change to FFB. This option doesn't seem available in a pause situation on track. It isn't a big deal but it does give the option of running longer races knowing that it doesn't have to be finished in one sitting. Dreadfully unrealistic, I know but sim racing can work around our lives whereas as real world racing doesn't!
