How is the distribution of the timing of mechanical failures computed in function of the values of LifeTimeAvg and LifeTimeVar in the <engine>.ini file ?
The names of the parameters (average, variance) suggest that either the distribution is uniform over the interval [LifeTimeAvg-2*LifeTimeVar, LifeTimeAvg+2*LifeTimeVar], either it is a normal distribution centered on LifeTimeAvg with a sigma of LifeTimeVar.
However, I have done some sampling that suggests that neither is true. I have set the additional LifeTimeOilTemp and LifeTimeEngineRPM additional wear factor to 0 so that they would not interfere, but I haven't been able to reverse engineer the formula used by rFactor. Or are there other parameters that act on the engine lifetime ?
