I tried Bobs Track Builder many times, but I dont like it. In sketchup the modeling is very easy, so I would like to know it is possible to create a track with it.
Modeling a track/car, yes you can. But you still need other programs that able to export your model into GMT format (and using all shaders available in rFactor).
Here's the tools I'm using.
- sketch up pro 8 (exported the model as 3ds file)
- 3ds max 2010 32-bit (ISI plugins only for 32-bit version)
- modding tools and plugins from ISI
You can substitute 3ds max with 3dSimEd. IMO 3dSimEd is now quite mature to create rFactor1 files. Another fast way to create a track is using Bobs Track Builder. But still for finishing you need 3ds max or 3dSimEd.
Are there any rules in sketchup, how to create groups, surface of the track? Or I have to create these "attributions" in 3ds? Because I am able to create the track in sketchup, but how I explain to rfactor what object is what?
I use sketchup pro 7(no templates!!!), 3ds max8 and the most current version of 3dsimed. I export all of my objects from sketchup as a dwg. I map/texture everything in max, export it as a 3ds and do my gmts in simed. This way you can name all of your objects ect. ect...
