Is rFactor2 build 85 using only 2 cores?

Is rFactor2 build 85 using only 2 cores, or can it use more?

According to this post by Tim it is, but it's quite an old post so I was wondering if it's changed, I couldn't find any other info on this.

I'm running dual core E8400 3GHz and could get a free upgrade to quad core Q6600 and overclock it to 3GHz, but would it make any noticeable difference? Or should I be looking at better GPU (got GTX 560 atm).

It does use only 2. But still getting a quad core can help as the rest of system can use the other 2.

Hello bud.

Im running a Q6600 @ 3.6 with DDR2 @ 1066 with a HD5750. I can run it at 1920x1080 easy

At that clock speed the 'CPU Passmark' benchmark scores are double of a E8400, its almost comparable to a i5-2500s!

Go for the upgrade, you wont be disappointed :)

I have this CPU too and I easily overclocked it to 3.7 Ghz: I think you might try it too and think about buying a new cpu in the future (something like a i5 2500K or a i5 3570K: the first one should be easier to overclock without excessive overheating).

The new AMD FX quadcore's run std @4.3 Ghz and they as cheap as chips at the moment. Same with the mother boards that support them.

I was running my E8400 @ 3.6 and it was ok (60fps stable) with max details and one car, but slowed down to 8fps with more than 10 cars. I got Q6600 now running @ 3.2 and can't see much difference to be honest, probably because 2 cores are not used. I'll try to get it up to 3.6 GHz this weekend, but probably it's graphics card that's holding me back. I've got GTX 560 1gb and I see all memory is used and some is borrowed from system memory when I add more cars, so maybe it's slowing because gpu has to use system memory?

It would be nice if rFactor 2 used all possible cores to get a bit more performance. It's time to test build 90 now :)
