modeling limits of rFactor?

gibbage

Im starting a project in rFactor and wanted to know the limits of the engine, but I cant find any reference's that tell me these things.

First, whats the texture size limits? Can rFactor accept 2K textures?

Second, whats the polygon count limits? Whats a good poly count for a showcase car?

Thank you for any help on this. Is there a document with all this information available? I cant find it in the SDK or tools.

rFactor will handle 2k textures.

Actual limits depend on graphics card you're running on. If someone will run your content on computer with not enough video memory, weird things will start to happen.

Indeed K Szcech! Indeed strange things!
I only can recommend to take care of the polycount!
Many people won´t be able to use the mod when the models are way too big in polycount.
And that is very frustrating!
Sorry that I can´t tell you any numbers but here in the forum (or in other forum) you will find hints
and examples for a proper polycount.

This is rather frustrating, as it seems rFactor 2 has some good modding documentation, but not rFactor 1? Is there some sort of basic car modding tutorial or documentation available?

I'm also just experimenting to learn how to make cars. To do this I've been importing a high poly 3d car ( 50,000 polys) to learn the limits. The maximum polygon count per an object seems to be around 10,000. Over that limit, the meshes get shredded and split into seperate 3d objects. This maybe a limitation of the 3ds format, but I will continue experimenting.

Thank you, that information will be super helpful!
