Qualification vs race times

Hello everyone. I'm a new user of rFactor (5 days), so this question might look very silly for veterans on this site.
It's really hard to win qualification (or even take better than 10th place) - I've never done that, meanwhile I have no problem with beating rivals in the race. Why? I know that in the race there are more cars on the track, but after a while the best vehicles have enough place to obtain really good times. Why cannot they reach their qualification's time?
Oh, I set difficulty both opponents' agression to 100%.
 
Qtips:
run lite on fuel, makes a big difference compared to a full tank for race.
reduce radiator opening if available, helps bulid engine temps quicker, increases down force, reduces aero drag.
stage wide rounding the last turn before lap-timer begins, can produce some advantage depending on the track.
some mods have qualifying tires/engines options.
AI are little cheaters, can't be trusted.
