Rfactor had very low frame rates!

Soteres Joannou

I am playing Rfactor v1255 with the "Ultimate car collection" mod, but the frame rates are very low and the screen shudders.

My Specs:

Windows 8.1 64bit
i5 4690 CPU
Gforce GTX 760
8gigs memory

Please Help!
Thanks.

What cars are in this mod? It may be they don't have lower lods (level of detail) and the liveries are of very high resolution and you have too many AI shown, or the mirrors are of too high resolution, etc etc.

Like Guimengo has said, that can be caused by many reasons.

Try to reduce the Grafic-settings first, especially the Shadow-quality.

Mod possibly too big!
Happens often with rF1, as modders give a **** about how it runs!
It´s only a 32Bit-exe you know...

Try using the patch which allows rFactor to use much more RAM. Should be able to easily find it. I believe it's called 4GB patch or something (can be used in many games, not just RF1).

In the rFactor display settings, do the following:

- Lower your max visible vehicles

- Lower anisotropic filtering by 1 click (makes a difference with lots of cars).

- Disable shadow blur

- Lower opponent detail to medium

- Lower shadows to high

In your player-PLR file, set garage LOD or garage detail, or something like that, to a number like 0.2. I believe default is around 0.6. This will help reduce those big framerate drops you get when there are many opponents and you're on track driving down the straight next to the pits.

Spinelli dont tell bollocks!
Anisotropic filtering, shadows and shadow-blur doesn´t eat RAM!
Opponent/player detail and max visible cars does.

I would recommend to not use this "Ultimate car collection" mod, as it throws too many cars at once in the game!
It is better to install the mods you really want seperatly and delete this ultimate car pack thingy.

4GB patch would be a good idea, but i fear the exe that comes with it requires the DVD as far as I know. Maybe at now there is a 4GB patch that works with the
online installer, but never seen that.

For mods and tracks take a look here:

I never said they do, but they can make a huge difference in framerates especially with many opponents.

It works for many games, not just rFactor. The 4GB patch does not come with any game-specific EXE, does not require any specific version of rFactor or any other game, and completely works 100% with the online version and any version.

Oh, thought so. Sorry. Long ago that I tried this, maybe I got indeed another exe. Don´t know....

But seriouly, Spinelli:
You can´t tell a new guy with a fkn 760GTX that he have to dumb down the graphics for rF1!!!!
There is clearly something a problem, and I named it!
