rFactor Loads Same Car and Track Every Time

blakboks

Hello,
I'm hoping to avoid reinstalling rFactor, so I'm hoping you guys can help me out. Ever since I tried installing some Stereoscopic 3D drivers for some glasses I had, rFactor has loaded the same car/track once I click 'load track' no matter which ones I select on the main screen. For example, I'll select Kodi Rayzor and Mills, but when I click 'Load Track' it loads the BMW F1 car and my own WIP track (which was the last car/track configuration I used before uninstalling the S3D software). When I reload rFactor, it defaults to the BMW F1 and that track again (on the main screen). So, like I said, if I can get away with not reinstalling rFactor, that'd be great. I don't know if there's a file I can edit or delete that will fix things.
Thanks y'all,
-Chris

Hello
Well I would uninstall the 3d glasses software and see if that is the problem.
The car you are trying to load you did purchase it right.

you can also try and create another driver name and see if that do's it.

Problem Solved!

Hey Ruben,
Thanks for taking a stab at it. I figured out what the problem was. I'd forgotten that right after uninstalling the 3D Glasses software, I decided to up my user security level. I tried testing out the highest setting to see if I could tolerate it. However, it turns out that doing so will not let you change any file on the C:\ without Admin. permissions. So, what was happening was that rFactor was trying to edit the .plr file, but it couldn't save it. Apparently, when you try to load a track, it references the .plr file instead of just reading the data from what you currently have selected (RAM?).

It's probably a fairly convoluted process, much more than it might seem, but when you think about it it makes sense - if it let you load your selected car and track but couldn't change the file, the file would no longer contain your last used car and track ;)
