SCGT schtuff...

Jan Kohl

Over this winter, I plan to upload a bunch of our SCGT archives. Someone requested it awhile back, so I hope to get a chance to sit down, sort it out, and post some big zips with all our old stuff...

Cheers!

I've tried to get SCGT to run to no avail .... It installs fine, but it just runs so slowly it's painful. Is it a Vista problem? Or....?

My first ISI game... great memories!!! Should collect my copy from my dad's house.

Hi Gjon :p and thx for this forum!

I have SCGT, F1-2K, F1-2002, F1-2004/F1C and thousands of files for them (Mostly SCGT and F1C) all backed up on Discs, and games all have original boxes I think. LOL! Never really played SCGT much, was doing too much Flightsim stuff at the time (was into Microsoft WWII combat series, even ended up working for them as researcher for CF3 and what was to be CFS4 till the bean counters binned it) By that time Simbin had there GT mod for the early F1 series...

Have you tried running in compatibility mode?

Right-click on EXE, pick the Compatibility tab, pick some older OS. IIRC, I ran fine under Vista, but under Win7 I unfortunately seem to have to run in Software mode. Perhaps a few more experiments would find a solution.

First of all, let tell the forum that I found used copies of SCGT at Amazon.com. I paid about $15 for a "very good" copy.
The game loaded just fine, I am using windows vista and a Logitech G25. The one problem I am having is
everyting works fine except the pedals. Does anyone have any idea of what I am missing. The axis settings are correct.
Another question is where exactly to you type in the cheat codes.
SCGT is one of my favorite racing games of alltime.
Thanks in advance'

Any plan to release SCGT as open source ware? :D

I did email ISI about it a while ago, and got a reply from Gjon. He said they were thinking of things they could do with it, but were too busy at the time getting RF2 into testing to do anything else. You might want to bother them about it again...

i have the scgt orginal. seems ok on vista not try on win 7 yet.

Did do a couple of converts for rf1 (desert-speedway ,with advisory notes if anybody from isi/Ea complained.it would of been deleted

Hi Guys

Well i got a surprise today when the wife walk in from shopping, and said i've bought you a game from
the charity shop it was only 99p,and to be honest i was thinking oh lord what must it be,anyway she
handed it over to me (bless her) and my eye's lit up when i saw it was SCGT in mint condition, now i've
never played this game before but i knew it was one of the first games done by ISI(Think i've got that
right).

But to cut along story short,i have managed to install the game, and it seems to run fine, the only problem
i'm having is mapping the throttle and brake controls to my momo pedals, well i can map them, but it doesn't
seem to save the mappings for some reason.

I just wondered if any of you guys had any idea's on this, also sorry if i've posted in the wrong place.

Best Regards, Brian (privatebrian). Thanks in advance.

Ok Guy's

I figured this one out...doh, and for anybody else that might have the same trouble this is what you
need to do,right click on the SCGT icon, click properties, compatibility then check run as administrator.
Everything runs fine, and i'm quite surprised how good the physics are in this old game.

Best Regards, Brian.

privatebrian; Hi Guys

^ Stuffed up the quote sorry.

Wow what a girl!
Vista is a known lemon and I used my Ultimate 64 bit copy for maybe 3 months.
There it is, quite dusty, on the shelf over there  ^~
Admin sorted most things with Vista, also turning off all the automatic stuff so you can actually
achieve something at some stage.
A total waste of a considerable sum of cash and I got it wholesale too.
I think my endless complaining to M$ bought forward the release of Win7 by about a year:cool:
lfmao.
and that would be fantastic Jan - thank you.

I am looking for many scgt cars, specially group 5 cars.specially cars like escort MKII Zakspeed group 5 ,De tomaso group 5 , aston martin group 5, or any other greoup 5 cars u guys may have, except for lancias montecarlos porsches and bmws cause those i already have,,.,if anyone would have it and please give a working link i d appreciate or some late 70's protos early 80's too

SCGT Archives list

I have some old scgt files including the Adelaide street circuit track which I created.

Most are for the Australian races cars and tracks.
Ive also got the GTVE4011.exe file, JGCT_500 and JTCC_300 files.
If interested I could upload.

It was a great game in its time but no desire to revive it, the current race games Rfactor 1 and 2 are graphically exceptional
and I couldnt see myself taking too much time on SCGT
Cheers!

SCGT was awesome back in the day. I got it in an EA racing pack that also included Need For Speed III: Hot Pursuit and NASCAR Revulsion. I never bothered loading NASCAR Revulsion. The main reason I bought rFactor is because I wanted to be able to play the same type racing series as were in SCGT.

I too have scgt. It was awesome back that time. I think it was the first game you could improve your car and buy many more cars. English was a barrier for me those times but i managed throught it with enthusiasm. I was about 11 or 13 years old

Ok guys. Managed to assmble almost all the cars i wanted to covnert and bring to the new modern sim racing.
These are the cars im Missing and if someone have them or any modeller willing to jump in the teammaking them for scgt i d apreciate, but i heard some of these already existed for scgt:

- RONDEAU M382 (not the m379 and m482,those i already have)
- LOLA T610
- MERCEDES SLC LE MANS 1978
- FERRARI 370 LONG TAIL LE MANS 1973
- MAZDA RX MOONCRAFT.
- NIRMOD NRA-2

If any of you have any of these cars please let me know.

Thank you so much

by the way guys,if anyone has some le mans models from the 54 to 67 is also very wellcomed, ,Specially the Ferrari 500 TR, i know existed for scgt.

Cheers and heppy 2015

Spotted the SCGT box on my shelf and figured I should engage in a moment of nostalgia. Sadly, the disk check doesn't find my CD drive. Tried running it under all the compatibility settings, run as administrator, etc, and it just doesn't recognize that there's a CD drive. Windows 8.1.

Not to be a downer Emery, but you might well be better off. I've found in the past the those lovely memories of games gone by are better left that way.
I totally destroyed good memories of a flight sim once, (flight of the Intruder) by getting it to run again in 1996, and I was totally repulsed to see what it was that had made me fall in love with flying on the computer.

Keep your memories.

Life can be funny.

got the game too (Well, i can't find it but gotta be somewhere).
Good memories from 1999... i was 12yo. now i wonder how accurate thos physics were and how much amount work was it for isi to develop gmotor1 to gmotor2. In fact i would love to know lots of miscealean staff and curiosities from that old gmotor compared to the latest gmotor2.5 . how isi rates the gmotor1 found in scgt now and how they rated back then. did they pursued pure simulation? and if so how happy were they in that regard? etc

I recently bought a new copy of SCGT on EBAY, would love to run it on my W10 system, is there any way this can happen?

Some months ago I started playing SCGT again. However, I'm still trying to find cars/tracks that I used to play 10 years ago. Back then I was active as "enduroLM", putting together car lists at Racesimcentral for Le Mans / ALMS and related series. I've tried to get in contact with people from then, but most of the mail addresses in the readme files don't work any more. I'm also aware of several conversions / improved versions for more recent games, but I'm a little into retro gaming for now. Accordingly, I would be interested to hear whether anyone still has a file collection and if so, whether he would be willing to share the files.

E.g. for the years 1972 - 1981 I was able to retrieve almost all the SCGT sportscars / prototypes which I am aware of, see attached screenshots. But for other periods it's more tricky.

And another screenshot, this time the IMSA GTP cars (and early GTO cars). I don't always have the latest versions that were available, e.g. there was a version of the Chevrolet Corvette GTP (long tail) and the Ford Probe with transparent windows, there was a more detailed version of the Nissan ZX-Turbo, and finally, it seems All American Racers' Toyota 88C was released as well.
