Schumacher seriously injured

That's not good. He always had a guardian angel, hopefully this time also. Enough athletes had not and died outside their sports. :(

Yes i've read it some minutes ago. He was shaken by something but was in full awareness and probably even posted himself somewhere. MS don't do that Sh...T. Skieing is not worth the fun with the risk to die as 7 time champion of asphalt on snow.

It doesn't have to be risky...I've been skiing for 28 years and never had a serious injury, and I've done some gnarly stuff here and there. However, I see people skiing above their abilities all the time--people who are clearly 'out of control'. It seems like each year you hear about a race driver injuring himself on the slopes, though. These guys, though, are adrenaline junkies and always have to push the boundaries of what they're capable of. It's their own mindset that gets them in trouble. Plus, there's a LOT more variables when skiing than there are on the track. People do stupid stuff on the slopes that you couldn't get away with on the track--pulling out in front of you, etc; and off the groomed stuff, you never know what's waiting for you under the top layer of snow. Skiing balls-out when there's people around is like trying to drive a F1 car through a city full of traffic.

I was sure I read seriously, must have missed the not, sorry it happens

No they have changed it, originally it said he was alone and it was serious, I wasn't being misleading honest!

I know well what you mean, even i don't have any skiing experience, me was a marshal art guy ( over 10 years 7 days training the week ), now i'm starting with Wing Chun with my 40, was an high speed sprinter on 100m reaching limits of low 10 sec. with a age of 15 already, one of the best at everything i did but unfortunately some accidents outside my sport finished my career because i always was searching for adrenaline.

I understand him, look at his face when he is doing any sport, he is always max concentrated and focused, no matter what he did as Vettel as well has this bite, me as well had and every champion or candidate has. Just people with this task and talent, her chi can focus are successfull. Training alone does not help and don't makes people without the talent to champions, no matter how hard they try, there is always one better who has the real power. MS is still one of the most powerfull atlets on this world, no matter how good he is at anything different than racing, he always gives his best.

Yes this guys are junkies.

He he no worries man, it was just a funny contradiction, nothing more :)

Just read the latest news, doesn't sounds that good, reminds me to Mika Hakkinen's accident in Adelaide 1995 (i think). Lets hope for the same good outcome.

I snow board a lot , I use top quality helmet (same make as the Olympic teams wear )

I imagine Schumacher uses a top quality helmet also

He must have taken a mega blast to the head for this to happen, perhaps losing control and flying through the air head first and landing on his head on a rock

Must have knocked him for six, reports are saying he's in a coma right now

he had a severe head and neck injury in 2006, they say he might have just opened the old cracks...

I see gosh,

Hope he pulls through fine ( his birthday is on the 3rd of jan )

Your guess is pretty amazing

BBC reports that's exactly what happened, he WAS wearing a helmet and he hit his head on a rock whilst falling

Hate to see accidents on the slopes, I have seen someone be air lifted off in a stretcher before too

The response & care centers are top class around the Alpes, they get to people very fast -even though he was apparently off piste at the time they were with him within a few minutes (according to reports)

I'm sure he is in the best of hands

Damn, initial reports made it sound serious but non-life threatening. Let's hope he gets out of this alright.

In Acoma and has brain bleed... Was operated on and the next 2 weeks are critical...Wishing him and his family all the best for a good speedy recovery.

Hopefully it will be a Hammondesque head injury that he makes a full recovery from.

I hope he recovers soon. I had a cousin that suffered a similar accident with very similar consequences. Fortunately he fully recovered although it was long recovery since he suffered amnesia and other brain damage. It is typical that some epilepsy might remain from the accident. I think Michael is a strong person that will fight for living. I pray for him.

Hmm what an irony.
When he was racing these last years after his championships, I used to shout to the tv COMMON MICHAEL GET OUT OF THERE, WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT!
But, he just couldnt get away from his adrenalin dose it seems :(
Hope he pulls this through.

Gary Hartstein posted an update, his interpretation of the press conference a few hours ago:

"First off, this press conference was rather more reassuring than what I expected. I’ll admit that I feared an announcement of a second operation for persistently elevated intracranial pressure (ICP), and the fact that that’s not been needed is good."

Schumi is still in critical condition. The next 48 hours will be vital.

C'mon Schumi, pull through mate.

---

I met him quite a few times back in Adelaide, both prior to being World Champion and after being a double World Champion. He stopped, gave me lots of time and we had a chat. One chat was only a few hours before the 1994 race, just after the warm-up. Other much lesser talented drivers were blunt rude, but Schumi not only stopped to chat but was super friendly.

Get well Schumi. All thoughts and prayers goes out to you and your family.

We're the same age. Makes one think of their own mortality and frailty.
Hope he pulls through.

I went to the CHU, and if one thing to do, not trust anything that isn't from official conference.

The guy from the Bild was looking to go inside the hospital "to see somebody" sunday night, with a photo reporter.
There were the guys spying the helicopters all days long, on what was a very hard day of work for the emergency service.
Today Sabine Kehm said that one journalist has tried to go inside the bloc where Michael is...

About the accident, there were a lot of talks, we will know in time how everything went, but it seems he was really unlucky.

The guy is in good hands, probably one of the best place of the world for that kind of problem, he's fighting hard, and it's better to not have news report before tomorrow morning or later, that would mean everything is going, slowly, on the good direction.

I've saw on television some news that one reporter got dressed as a priest and tried to enter a room :D

If this is true then it is really a shame! How deep must a human fall to do something like this ? Very sad .

Agreed. This is a shame. How come someone could be so disrespectful and insensitive to him and his family in a so delicate situation?
But this is a rhetorical question, this reporter is a prick but unfortunately this moron was trying to satisfies morbid, disrespectful desires of a good part of our society.

I feel sad for both.
