SCN, GMT, AIW? I want to code a pacenotes generator!

Jon Hoskins

Hi! I love rally and still think RF1 has a lot to offer in this area. I've been playing around a bit with the existing pace notes plugin http://www.rfactorcentral.com/detail.cfm?ID=rFactor Pacenotes Plugin

I think I'd like to try my hand at a sort of automatic generator that could take existing data about a given track/stage and then create a pace notes file compatible with the aforementioned plugin... generating something like this:

Code:
-200.042	13.393	228.567	easy.wav left.wav
41.010	8.665	311.519	easy.wav
41.010	8.665	311.519	left.wav
290.824	8.851	372.441	left.wav
947.622	11.759	358.132	easy.wav
1530.258	11.029	73.799	easy.wav ;this is a comment
-296.572	8.949	5.412	easy.wav ;this is also a comment

I know nothing about rFactor file formats but suspect an app that could read AIW files might be on the right path? Or should I be looking at SCN or GMT files (or something else entirely?) instead? I'm also curious as what might be the best way to acquire the data needed for such rally specifics as "bridge", "crest", "jump", "road narrows", etc. Any ideas?

Any advice and/or links to guides & tutorials on the appropriate rfactor files (and how to interpret them) would be much appreciated!

Thanks in advance!
