re: seat height incar

In F1 mods the seat height should be very low ....... and your incar view should be from the helmet visor height.

Anyone raising their seat height higher and running from above the helmet has an unfair viewing angle.

Has anyone found a way to fix the seat height so it is not adjustable by an online league player ??

Mh, the first thing that comes to my mind is to manipulate the vehicle .cam file:
LocalCam=COCKPIT
{
Fov=(72.000000, 72.000000)
Clear=TRUE
Color=(164, 218, 249)
ClipPlanes=(0.0225000, 500.000000)
LODMultiplier=(1.000000)
MipmapLODBias=(0.000000)
Size=(1.000000, 1.000000)
Center=(0.500000, 0.500000)
Flags1=(0)
Flags2=(0)
RadiusLimits=(0.000000, 0.000000)
OrientationRate=(999.000000, 999.000000, 999.000000) // Low numbers cause jitter when you're spinning
PositionOffset=(0.000000, -0.01000, -0.25) \\(+Left-Right, +Up-Down, +Back,-Forward)
OrientationOffset=(-0.030000, 0.000000, 0.000000) //(+Up-Down, +Left-Right, Roll: +Left-Right)
Radius=(0.000000)

you can set the position to a lower level, so that the max height is as low as you wish.
Other views can be deleted I think, to prevent people are using roof-view or something else.
Don´t know if a "force view" funktion is present in rF1 server-setup.

Hope that helps.

ahh .......... ok I see what you are getting at.

Make the highest seat setting the normal viewing height, so that everyone must use the highest seat setting to get to the correct height.
Now that's an interesting approach.
Thanks.

And yes you can force the "cockpit view" on the server in rF1.

You can alter the cam file and not get a mismatch in the server. I'm fairly sure that is correct because I've done the same with track cams before. Just something to think about.

Maybe i remember wrong, but i think, when the dedicated server uses the "forced driving view" option, that the cam file from the server installation is used for all clients.

If not, and changing the own camfile wouldn't cause any mismatches or misfunction, this option wouldn't make any sense, right?

Forced view only puts you in say cockpit view where you can still adjust the seat. The group I race with runs their server with mismatches off but I can adjust a tracks cam files with no issues. I know a few buds done the same with a certain mod because bonnet view wasn't positioned incorrectly. Still no mismatches show up.

Ah, OK, never tried it out, because on our servers everybody can use the view what ever he likes :).

I just remembered a member of us who tried to change his view on a server from another league, where cockpit-view was forced.
But the changes didn't work, he always got the original settings when joining the server.

So i thought that the server cam-file was used for all clients.

That may be possible with fixed view, but its been years since Ive been in one. I no longer have a server to test this our or I would.

Now i wanted to know it.... tested it on one of our servers.
You are right freew67, the only thing that is forced when using the "forced driving view", is the point of view, but not the settings/values and i get no mismatch when i edit my camfile.
So the whole thing makes no sense, as long as i can change the point of view as i want, without getting mismatches.

And maybe our member, i was talking about, who tried it on a server from another league, forgot to put his own file in game again after synchronising, or something else went wrong.

It only makes sense when the clients don´t know about this possibility!
What in most cases should be the case...

But just one who knows about it, has an advantage.
And believe me, there always is one who knows....
