Server questions (so frustrating for the uninitiated)

hello all,
our group has purchased a server for our league to race on. the files for our mod have been uploaded, my modem has been port-forwarded as i was told i needed to do that.

now, my problem is " when i try to join a server i cant find our server in the list of servers to choose from"

i've hunted hi and low and cant find any documentation to help, so frustrating you wouldnt believe.

so how do i get our server to appear

someone please help

what kind of accces do you have to the server?
just ftp? or remote desktop?
