Steering lock reduces at speed even with SSS = 0.0

949Racing

Just loaded new rFactor 1.2.5.5 discs on two identical W7 gaming machines (purchased Dec '13). One G27 & one G25 with rfactor default settings. Current Logitech drivers.

The symptom
The steering ratio drops dramatically as speed increases, to the point that there is almost no tire angle change with 450° of wheel rotation. At pit and low speeds, it has full steering angle. Verified tire not changing angle on open wheel cars and replays of closed cars. The effect is that the car pretty much doesn't turn at higher speeds. Not even possible to do a high speed tri-oval in a low powered car at top speed of say 130mph.
Because lock is effectively decreasing, the deadzone also increases so not only a huge on-center dead zone developing at speed but almost no steering lock.

Default controller settings

Steer Ratio Speed="20.00000" // Speed at which low speed steering lock override ends (for pit navigation, units are meters/sec, 0.0 to disable)
Speed Sensitive Steering="0.60000"

Changed to below settings with no effect.

Steer Ratio Speed="0.00000" // Speed at which low speed steering lock override ends (for pit navigation, units are meters/sec, 0.0 to disable)
Speed Sensitive Steering="0.0000"

These particular machines are not connected to the internet yet so I'm not sure if there is an rFactor update or something.

Tried realfeel and also Leo's ffb, no effect. Uninstalled - deleted - rebooted -reinstalled to factory defaults, still no joy. Any ideas?

Some had problems with the steering caused by the Windows User Account Control.
Did you try to run the game "as Administrator"?

Initial install was as default passwordless administrator. Subsequent installs on a passwordless user account we created. Same problem. Can't get rid of speed sensitive steering ratio change.

the setting your adjusting is for pit navigation only.

in-game, controller settings should be a slider for speed sensitivity, set it to center.

...from memory, i don't have rf1 installed.

Sorry but i have to ask again: did you try to start the game with rightclick on the icon you start the game with and choose "run as administrator"?

Secon thing is:
in first post you wrote that you've set "Speed Sensitive Steering="0.0000"".
That should set the slider JGraf was talking about to "0" too. Did you control that?

If this is set to 0 in the settings menu you normally should not have the described effect.
