Riva-Style
Hello everyone, I'm quite new here so let me briefly introduce myself (since I wasn't able to find a proper topic): I'm a 26-year-old italian guy, into rFactor since 2008 and into rF modding since 2013. I work as a software developer in real life, and a kind of a factotum in a league (RSR Gaming Racing Team) and a modding group (Virtual Rallycross Championship) since I edit and touch almost everything.
In RSR Gaming I'm working since April 2013 on a Rally mod. We're currently running a Rally championship that's getting close to its end, and I'm already at work for the 2016 championship: I want to insert a Ford Fiesta R5, and here comes my question.
As you can see from this video,
the display works in two different modes: let's call them the Road and Stage modes.
The Road mode is the one you can see at the beginning, with all the infos like RPM, Oil Temp, Water Temp, Fuel Level and such, while the Stage mode is activated by a button on the lower console and only displays the gear one has inserted. I wanna try to replicate this behaviour ingame, so my question is: is it possible to catch an event (i.e. the time starting when crossing the start line) and make a material change its texture depending on it? If so, is there a tool or something that can let me do it?
