Using bitmap instead of gmotor

Hi, I'm in the process of texturing my tyre wall and background scenery. I'm wondering if I can go to the material editor, diffuse and then select bitmap and apply it to an object in 3ds max. If I did this would I still be able to import my track to rfactor with no issues, or will I have to use gmotor.

P.s. I have used gmotor for surfaces the cars will interact with.

Only gMats are allowed. The exporter will complain if you don't :) ...
 
Ok thanks very much. So is It possible to just texture an object with a solid colour via GMotor, if so, how?
