Won't load main window in win 7

have purchased rfacttor and when I run it initially it opens and shows the startup screen then stops and only shows an active icon in the task bar.

My comp is HP DV-7 8meg ram ATI radeon HD5650 1 gig mem

Any suggestions as to how to get it up ??
 
First see the common startup issues in the FAQ

Also, when you run rfactor in Win7, try right clicking on the rfactor.exe and selecting "Run As Administrator..." even if you have an administrator account.
 
Mate I neglected to advise I always run my games from "Run As Administrator" - In addition I'm running Direct X 11 could this be an issue ??
 
There are many people running on Windows 7 without issue. Directx shouldn't be an issue. However, when installing and you are prompted to update directx, select YES regardless of what version of directx you have (since it might include files not included in your public distribution). This will not downgrade your current directx.

That said, most startup issues are antivirus/firewall related, or system DEP (Data Execution Prevention) settings.
