Boz sprint AI problems?

TJT24

Why are the AI cars spinning in circles and driving backwards on the track? Also why is it so hard to see over the front of sprint car?

I would say that the tires of these kind of cars are always created so crazy in behaviour, because rFactor-engine isn't really made fort cars that need to slide on track.
So the AI has a problem. But the modders normally put one class into their mods, where the AI behaves "normal".
Look under the "opponents"-tab and try different classes, but choose always only one class and test then.

And what do you mean with "hard to see over the front of sprint car"?

Do you mean the hood(tv-cockpit)-view?

The view from cockpit is very low and when you step on the gas you can't see the track in front of you. It is hard to find the corner when you cant see the track.

Do you have a little knowledge of rFactor structure and files?

You can change the view in the, to the car related, *.cam file.
Depending on the view that you use, you have to modify these lines:

For XYZ: PositionOffset=
For angle of view: OrientationOffset=

But i would suggest to only change the Position Offset, that should give you the wanted result.

The 3 values in the brackets are giving the XZY Position (Attention!! it is NOT XYZ)

It is: Left-Right, Up-Down, Back-Forward

When you choose "Control/Race weekend" and are on the screen where you can choose the track, there are 3 tabs on top of the field with the tracks, the 3rd is the opponents tab.

I can't figure out what is wrong with AI vehicles and have tried everything I can think of. The late models and Boz sprint AI's spin circles and go all over the track on one wheel. Any clue to what I can change so I can race against the computer?

Can you post a downloadlink of the version you are using?

When i have the mod here on my machine, it is much easier to look if there is an "easy" solution.

I have no clue how to find the download link for my game sorry. I just downloaded the game this past weekend.

Almost, yes.
I would need the exact Version that you have downloaded.

On the both sides you have posted, i can get:
On the first site:

Boz Sprintcar Mod
Boz Sprintcar Mod Update
Boz Wingless Mod
POWRi Midgets
Dirt Late Model V.2
Dirt Late Model V.2 Update
Dirt Late Model V2.1 Update
SPR 600 Sprints

On the Second Site:
DLM 2.3
DLM 2

Which of them did you download?

For the first I downloaded Boz sprint mod and the second I think was DLM 2.

It seems as if none of them has a good working AI. And to create one, would be a lot of work to do.

But i think it will be hard anyway to find such a mod with realistic working AI, because, like i said before, rFactor is not programmed for cars like this. The sliding is not supported.

But when i remember right, the Powri Midgets mod has an acceptable AI (but think at, you have to choose the AI class as opponents!!).

You can Download it here: SPR POWRi National Midgets 2013 2.00

Those sprints were made mostly for online racing. As for looking out thru the car......use the seat adjusting buttons. you can go up/down......front/back............PLUS,......in a real sprint car, you don't see too much from the drivers seat. This mod is probably the best sprintcar mod out there,....IMO

@redapg

Thanks for the hint Mangoletsi, but i don't drive these kind of cars, i just wanted to help TJT24. :)

And are you sure that this is the only reason for the strange behaviour?
If yes, tell TJT24 how to change it. ;)

Yes, the AIGripMult=1.07 values are to low in the TBC tyre file, if you change all the values to 2.07, you will see an immediate change in AI behaviour. The value 2.07 is obviously not the correct value, as it will take a lot of testing time to find the correct values for each tyre.

:)

Is the TBC file in settings?

No, it is the tyre.tbc file in the GameData/Vehicles/Boz something/Boz somthing.tbc file. (I didn't install it on this pc I'm using right now).

Warning, if you modify this file, you will get mismatches when racing online.

:)

If you are looking for a good dirt racing sim with good ai, then you need to go to dirtworksdesigns.net
We do not have sprint cars as of right now, but we do have Late models, Modifieds, Dwarfs, and Stocks. We have just released the new Modified cars and are working on the new Stocks right now. The mod is designed for racing on and off line with a more realistic ai to offer you great racing at any level. There is a track pack on the site as well and we are currently working on a new/updated track pack. If your hear is set on Sprints, then like others have said, boz is online only. Dlm2 is designed for online only as ai hasnt been set up. Check out our mod if you like and happy racing!
