R-Series Professional Steering Wheel by Gorilla Customs

Paul Loatman

I've been doing some research for a new wheel lately and came across this: https://gorillacustoms.com/shop/ind...ategory_id=1&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=104

Has anyone used this wheel, particularly with rF2?

I sent them a few questions, basically asking what sort of motor they use and what exactly the "tensioning system" actually does. I'll post what they say, but it would be nice if a third party could provide some input, i haven't seen this talked about anywhere and can't seem to find anything about it outside of their own website.

I do believe it's designed to work with Arca Sim Racing only.

Isn't ARCA purely stock cars? The wheel has options for paddle shifters for some of the wheels, which i don't think is allowed in the ARCA regs, so it wouldn't make sense to have those as options if it was only designed for those kinds of cars.

Be careful if you get anything from these guys. I needed customer service on my Lightning SST that was supposed to have "lifetime" warranty. Turns out Sim-Gear is no more and Gorilla Customs has taken over support duties. I tried to contact them repeatedly about a software issue and all I ever got was an answering service and never a call back.

FWIW, best to avoid these unknown shops. Neils, Leo Bodnar, and PSE wheels look like a safe bet. I'll have a wheel by PSE sometime in Aug. this year. I've lost count how many places I've contacted that either never responded or never ended up having product available.
Hopefully Neils will have wheel options soon, what he has done so far looks incredible.
*BTW very courageous Paul to buid your own watch. Most car and race fans I know love watches, just part of the sickness we all suffer.

Although unfortunate, that's good to know. Thanks for the warning.

Yeah, that's what i figured, i was more curious about these Gorilla Custom guys than anything. I was actually planning on buying a full set of pedals from Neils to go along with whatever wheel i end up getting, but i'm still waiting for the Accuforce wheel, since that's really the sort of thing that i've been wanting. The Bodnar wheel is really impressive, but i think it's honestly overkill for any enthusiast. I didn't know Neils was planning to make wheels for the consumer, i'll have to wait for that too i suppose.

Thanks about the watch, i honestly feel like i was born to do that sort of thing. I agree, a lot of people i know in the watch industry are die-hard motorsport or car fans, and usually the other way around too.

As far as I can see of how the FFB works on the pictures (cilinder on the back) the wheel will not be able to rotate that much.
Guessing on 180 degrees max.

Beats me Spinelli. lol. I do remember reading somewhere that it was built for ASR only but of course I could be wrong. I suppose it's all a moot point now anyways since they aren't responding to Paul which leads me to believe they aren't making them anymore and probably haven't for awhile now.
