Virtual LM GTCP finaly out

Christmas came early this year. Amazing work!

Magnet link is working fine too, had it downloaded in about 20 mins. :)

That's it, I'm gonna have to go back to rF1 for a little while, even if it's just to give a 956 or 962 a spin around Le Mans.

I can't thank the team behind this mod enough, a tremendous effort.

I hope one of the talented people take this on and can do the VLM work the justice it deserves.

Fully agree with the conditions after all the effort the team have put in

Thanks to all the developers who dedicated a big slice of their life to make their dream and ours come true.

Small bug, the UI is unable to show the last track entry (in my case USA tracks, last presented are Turkey). Checked that F1 1992 that uses the same UI has the same problem. The Porsche 956 is great.

love every aspect of it, the music, sounds and cars all perfect and so immersive , absolute wonderfull!
the driving well, its mindblowing , specialy the unguided rockets on the mulsanne straight with there inferiour downforce
the porsche 930 is easy to dial in with more rear camber en less front you can drive it real hard on the throttle without the ass too wide like in reality

MERRY (GROUP C) Christmas days!!

Inspired me to reinstall RF1 just to have a look...
Brilliant work!!! The sounds alone make it well worth the install.
I HOPE [please please please] that all the dedicated folks at VLM are just waiting for RF2 to stabilize so they can port this over to RF2? It could be the first "killer" mod that RF2 has been looking for [hint hint ISI!]. In the meantime, I'm inspired to keep this install of RF1 on the puter and start searching around to see if anyone else is driving it online.

I had high hopes and feel that GTPC fell short of the mark. Good sounds, probably just a notch below DRM Revival. Wonderful skins, modest models that feel like they're from the late rF1 period. In other words, good enough to go drive until... well, then I drive it and discover the physics aren't my cup of tea, aren't even close, and I end up feeling the whole mod is more of a graphics exercise than simulation.

There's an over-reliance on large back-torque in the engines to reduce mad downshifts, too much clutch-slip when upshifting (I'm using the G25 H-shifter, no autoblip, no autoclutch), and the tires don't inspire confidence. The BMW M1 & Porsche 956, so far, are the only cars that I've warmed up to. The Porsche 934 doesn't feel alive -- for a 32/68 weight distribution, there's no polar moment of inertia and you don't get the feeling of the rear end swinging out under braking and then planting when you power out of a turn. And you can't tell that the Porsche 928 is front-engined. Overall, it's obvious that Niels & Bristow have not had any influence on this project!

Back-to-back comparisons with the DRM Revival's M1 confirm that first impression about confidence with the tires and downshifting and upshifting (yeah, I know, they're different spec cars, but, IMHO not so different it isn't a valid comparison). In DRM Revival I can turn the wheel and feel whether the tires will bite or not. In DRM Revival, you can downshift without heel & toe and not instantly spin, though it will get you loose if you're too aggressive.

As with all large releases, there are a few minor bugs. For instance, Porsche 928 doesn't have a starter sound. Default setups don't seem to be designed for LeMans speeds, either, though I only tested the cars on Orchard Lake.

Music soundtrack is good even if it's not popular. The UI BINK video is downright ugly and a rehash of the low-quality trailer video(s). You'd think that if VLMjr is going to go to the trouble of making new models that they'd at least put out good videos. If the mod had been released 5-6 years ago in this condition, it would have been popular, but, as it stands today, it's not worth the time to race when there's a sweet Celica GTO, the Lola T-220, and the URD cars in rF2 now.

There's a torrent magnet link as well. Super fast with loads of seeds last I checked.

I must say its a huge work by this fellows. Thanks.

Nice job. Looks a lot like a very stripped down version of IMSA GT that was released at rFactor-League.com a few years ago. Very similar UI but only 1/4 of the different cars they had.

IMSA GT was "semi-private" compilation of previously released models (read absconded) with extremely well done physics, cars that drove very well. Prototypes had lots of options including various different engines and gearboxes. It was put together for a handful of real retired IMSA GT drivers for a private league a some years back. The league only lasted a few months but it was fun driving against a few of the actual legends of IMSA's glory days.

Makes me wish my hard drive didn't crash, otherwise I would reload it.

The physics guys actually race in real life. Some of the testers drove these cars for real too. One of our testers was Sean Edwards (who sadly died in a crash in 2013).
but who drove various of these cars.
All car phisics are done from real data And to quote the main physics guy. he was pretty conservative in physics not to make it to difficult but hard.
So sure the physcis might be off. I do not know I never drove a 956 in real life. the 934 is very much alive. you need to fight it hard to drive fast.
I will copy paste your findings on our forum and request our main physics guy for a reaction. :)

928 bug was found. Default setup is made for default setup. It is not made to be Stefan Bellof, Jacky Ikx, Jan lammers, Fitzpatrick. No you need to do it yourself :)
We seen a lot of people getting the right speeds. on the mark as back in time.

Music soundtrack is good even if it's not popular.
Thnx you should check out the rest of his music. The music is made inspired on our mod.

Well thank you you dislike my video work.
It was the first time I even tried that in the first place.
I asked online several times (also BSnismo) if someone would like to make a video. NO reactions so had to do this myself with my crappy vid card and capture it inbetween the paint jobs you like so much ;).

If you had paid attention you would know we are happy it came out at all in what form at all. It was almost thrown in the bin..
and second this is for rf1 so no need to compare it with RF2. And yes the celica, lola are absolutly awesome.

I like your work. It takes quite an effort to put together a piece of history like this glad you finished it, thanks.

These are sims. They will never drive quite like the real thing, but in terms of historical accuracy they work. Besides one of the nice things about rF1 is its easy to revise your own physics should you want something different.

I haven't driven a 956. I have driven a 962. I would imagine the same audio portion is missing - the whoosh of the cooling blower. You won't hear it alongside the track but its quite prominent inside the cabin. And its a sound that very, very few know or would miss. Its also something no modder would ever bother to duplicate.

Had some time running it, and the more you drive it, the more you like it.
The immersion is second to none, I adore racing the 956.
What a great job.

Thanks again.
