I don't want to judge too early but the general vehicle dynamics/kinematics/behavior still seems just like RF1....Oh well, this is just a stopgap (and a free one, for most, at that) until Reiza's 2017 game which I'm expecting to finally be a "true" step up/away from 'ol pMotor.

It's rFactor 1 with full access. So all those .dll plugins crap will be gone and instead implemented on the core. Renato still hasn't figured out what causes the black artifact break, hopefully there won't be a need to keep installing SweetFX hoping it would fix it.

what black artifact ? I ask because I have on my system under some special unknown conditions also from time to time problems with a similar thing. If possible a link to the topic would be nice

It is the overall enchancements and the Dirt I am interested in.

Like I said at start if the dirt falls flat on it's face will kill it................we will see hey ;)

I will know in one lap if the Dirt is worth the effort.

If the DiRT tyres and terrain is very immersive it is a winner no matter what else.

Please please ISI make rF2 look like this , get away from that almost blooming HDR look.

Would be a bitch to dig around and it was a mostly internal discussion. Just get SweetFX from RaceDept, and install. Don't need to activate it.

Look at the incar in pits, oh my it looks nothing like GSC and imho better then rF2.

It is like 1/2 between the 2 extremes

I've never tried any of the GSC series, simply because the sims I already own do not allow the time.
If the handling of that car in the video proves true, I may have to amend my sim list.
What I'm getting from it is a car that seems to respond to steering input vs response, exactly as it's full-sized counterparts do.
I'm also getting great audio and visual cues.
I'll definitely be keeping an eye on this one.

What are you talking about? You need SweetFX to address the artifacts.
 
Anyone got a pic of these artifacts? I have no idea what you are talking about, never noticed anything. But then I'm terrible to notice some stuff D:

If you've never experienced it, just be happy. Fortunately it was not too widespread and usually SweetFX did work.

Thoughts on in car ambiance mate ?

Gawd compared to that GSC, that looks like real ambiance.

GSC looks " canned , perfect and crystal clear "


Crap that looks 200% better :) and it was " just a name change " .......lol
 
The driver arm/hand animation is superb - does indeed look real ;)

I was talking about AMBIANCE the atmosphere is NOT CLEAR ie: like default GSC or rFactor.

If you can't tell the difference even from that low quality u tube get Glasses.

The improvement in graphics seen so far I think is only due to better textures, models (art) plus better skidmarks on track. That is basically work that any modder can do. The real challenge is if they can update the 2006 rF1 engine itself to support things we now consider standard in sims (HDR, rain effects, dynamic sky, realtime reflections, modern shaders).

I'm not saying it's impossible, but it's not progress that we can expect them to make in a month or two. It took ISI 3 years just to get the HDR part to look right.

That'll come with Reiza2017(rain and other bits), essentially all AMS is is a what GSC has become once they got their mitts on the code, they saw enough of a change to warrant labelling it a new title. There's more to it than just better textures, but not a great deal as you say it's only been a few months so we can't expect a huge overhaul, AMS will improve over the next few months but not sure how long they're working on it before concentrating 100% on the new title.

still prefer RF2 , lighting , reflections and landscape , everything looks better and more dynamic
 
Yeah I'd stick to my opinion and say it doesn't look fundamentally different from this video (starting 13:30) released 2 years ago. Sky, sunset, lighting etc. look exactly the same. It has now got better textures, more high-res trees etc, but don't be fooled to think it's a new graphics engine that they made in the last few months. Real progress will be if they manage to release the DX12 engine in 2017.

HDR don`t work with SLI/Nvidia 3D Vission in rFactor2 :(

still waiting HDR becomes mandatory for rF2...

BTT: AMS is still beta, we can`t expect everything working perfect...
