Any suggestions for improved Graphics? Eyes hurting...

Robert_DD

I've spent @ 30-hours in rFactor1 this week and am loving the physics and awesome driver feel! However it is hurting my eyes more than any of the other sims do. Below are my settings. Any setting suggestion?

Triple Asus 27" 2ms displays, XFX 6970 2GB graphics card
Yes, I have color calibrated the monitors

Circuit Detail: FULL
Player Detail: FULL
Opponent Detail: FULL
Texture Detail: FULL
Texture Filter: X4 Anisotropic
Special Effects: FULL
Shadows: MAX
Shadow Blur: On

Any setting suggestions or other advanced settings I am missing?

Thank you!
Robert

Maybe elaborate on what 'hurting your eyes' means. its just ugly? or do you get tearing or stuttering?

One thing to check for sure if the rf config.exe in the main rfactor folder, make sure settings are as intended. the hz is the same as your monitor, the correct card is selected, the resolution

Also in rf config test if different DX/AA and vsync on/off make any difference. DX9 is not always the best for example.

I would also check on these forums about triple screen setups. I don't know much about it but I do know there are issues with it sometimes, possibly with fixes.
(or just test what happens to rfactor when you run a single screen, just to compare)

try the max texture filter (x16 Anisotropic I believe) and shadows in display settings are the first thing to turn down in testing I think.
turning down everything after some testing with tweaks can also help, gradually increase display settings and see what you get.

And just for lulz, make sure you didn't happen to install the ugliest mod and track in the universe :)

You did not give the rest of your hardware but I suspect it should be able to run rf at max.

Thank you Denstjiro! I will try those now! No tearing or stuttering, just hard on the eyes. I can usually do 3+ hour sessions easy on any sim title before I take a break, but only did a hour with the "Super Formula 2013 1.10" at "Abu Dhabi F1 1.17" last night before I had to get up and take a break. Looking ahead for apex cone and threading the the needle was extremely more tiring on the eyes than Abu Dhabi in other sims. Same with "A-1 Ring 2.0". I'm loving the rFactor1 physics, so I want to figure out a graphics solution. I hope to use rFactor1 for Endurance race training. Thank you!

Maybe it is the "exaggerated" shaking cockpit view, that makes it hard for your eyes. You can turn that down in player.ini file somewhere under cockpit vibration multi....

Indeed what Hazi said which is also available in rf itself in the control section. there are other items avail in the control section that control the view and how it behaves, experiment with that.
maybe also pov settings.

Also looking for a smoother framerate can help the fatigue on the eyes, sometimes you wont even see it but a certain graphical build up every millisecond can have quite an impact in the long run. so defo check the fps department, DX and resolution. maybe a lower resolution will smooth things out more.
