Good racing seat to go with T500RS+TH8RS shifter?

TIG_green

I have a budget of approximately 600€

I was thinking of this combination:

http://www.playseat.com/shop/eu/wl/accessories/playseat-lcd-screen-stand-black.html
http://www.playseat.com/shop/eu/wl/accessories/playseat-gearshift-holder-silver-g27-clutch.html

I have a single screen.

Is this the best I can get with my budged and do you guys think that this would be a suitable to my T500RS + TH8 RS combination?

Thanks in advance :)

If you're going with PlaySeat, I would recommend one without the wheel bar between the legs. I have one like this, it is built for G25/27, one of the first versions of playseats and the bar starts to annoy you pretty soon, I wasn't thinking about that at a time. I have the gearshift holder too, it's not practical, it's very low and loose even when you tighten it up with screw that it comes with. I had to weld my own steel part on the holder to make it higher. But their seats are very comfortable.

Search also for RaceRoom seats and Obutto seats. Obutto ones stands for good quality, but also higher price.

I had a playseat just like the one you linked to and it was a piece of junk. Better than nothing but expensive for what you are getting.
There are some good old threads on rigs, worth searching and reading those.
If a proper driving position is what you are after I highly recommend a visionracer vr3 setup. Slightly more than you planned on spending but you'll be a lot happier in the long run. The bucket seat alone is worth the extra dough. Solid rig, looks good, and you can upgrade it as your budget allows. Had a T500 mounted to mine and never had a single problem. Cheers.

Thanks guys, I'll check out those products.

Atm I have an ordinary chair and a table so even playseat would be a huge improvement.

Is the wheelstand in Playseat steady enough for T500?

I tested the playseat from a friend and the central bar is a show stopper for me. I bought a second hand aluminium frame with a real moveable Hyundai seat for 20 Euros, and it took few hours of work to put a peace of wood under it with 4 wheels. And now I have something far better than an expensive Playseat with all options ;)

I bought one of the EVO rigs, perfect for the T500 (inverted pedals btw) and the shifter mount is included. The PRO has other accessories not available for the EVO, such as keyboard tray and monitor stand.

I would need the PRO one because I need a monitor stand. It looks pretty good. So this should be more steady for T500 than a Playseat?

Is the seat movable? (distance to the monitor, didn't find any info of this) If not, then is it suitable for a tall person too?

I have to see can I get my monitor to that stand or do I need to get a new monitor also :p

Price seems to be pretty good compared to Playseat even with shipping costs (480€ vs. 617€)

Seat is adjustable, same sort of slide as you find in your car. I think the PRO also has the ability to recline. The monitor stand supports standard vesa fittings, this makes it compatible with just about every PC monitor and most TV's as well. There may be a weight limit when it comes to TV's. As for tall guys, I'm 187.5cm (6'2.5") and don't have the seat at the furthest position.

Thanks. I'm seriously considering this option.

One final question: You said "(inverted pedals btw) "... can I have the pedals both way? I have been using the normal positioning all the time (not hanging pedals).

Yeah, all you got to do is swap the heel plate over, it is pre-drilled, and turn the pedal pads around. Then once that is done and you connect the wheel up, the button on the bottom left needs to be pressed until the light changes colour. Red for one way, green for the other. The clutch and throttle pedals have identical strength springs, which is a good thing for those of us that like the pedal to hang GT style, but has a downside in that the clutch has no feel to it. Of course, if the clutch feel is important enough, we can always buy one of the pedal sets Niels Huskinveldt (did I spell that right?) sells. All you need is a truck load of cash :p

I developed some wobble on mine with a cheap Logitech GT wheel. The T500 I got with my VR3 so I can't say for certain but I suspect it wouldn't be long until you had problems with it. The nice thing about a VR3 is you can remove the thin center spline and upgrade down the road. That said, I've never felt the need since it has remained solid since I put it all together. I run with probably too much FFB so if there was going to be a problem it would have happened by now. Either way you will enjoy the sim experience much more with a rig. Cheers.
