wanna race with 2 pc join a server online open port on the router normal on pc 1 then start rfactor and you get rfactor ports then on pc open router ports for rfactor there but high up port by 1 on the 3 ports that need open or set start and end ports
I race on pc 1 and host many servers on pc 2 so i open 3 ports for server host pc 2 with set start port and end port to host 12 servers.
anyway just join a server online you maybe not need open ports.
or you wanna host server on pc 2 drive with pc 1 you shall look in lan not internet settings .

Look at the pictures in http://tripp.team-forum.net/t18-fibersserversettingsv10 read it.
It explained whats happend when you start up first dedicated exe on pc you host server with.
And what port that is used and why you need start up 2 dedicated on the pc 2 you host server with.
And what port that use because 1 dedicated you start on pc 2 have same ports as rfactor on your pc 1!
It makes a conflict and can not be joined it always say joined time out.
You wanna now what ports as rfactor on your pc 1 and pc 2 use download this little program CurrPorts v1.87 http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/cports.html
Must be on both pc to see each pc ports whats in use.

I think your problem might be the way dns works, when you try to connect to a pc on your home network you cant use your ip to connect to it, you need to use the internal lan ip, ie 192.168.1.2 and do a direct connect (click the blue button with the + on it).

Also if you have 2 comps running RFactor 1 dedi 1 you are racing on and they are both on the same broadband connection.
You will have to connect threw lan on the racing server all others will have to connect via the Internet threw name search or via your IP addy for the Dedi server.
