Just thought I'd say...

rFactor was truley great, I think. I mean, for a sim that is now 5 years old, that must have been ground-breaking at the time of release! :D

i'n not sure if rF2 will be as ground beaking as rF1, pretty big shoes to fill. but i love a good surprise! :)

"was" great? is great!

At least until rF2 comes along this is still the best sim there is. I'm loving 1975 F1 at the moment

rFactor is a great base which survived because of great modders.

Mush respect to ISI and modding groups.

rFactor is the best, I drove iracing but my budget doesnt afford so many months, too expensive. and with rFactor 2 will be the best od the best.

Nice work there, how about a side-by-side video so we can really see the amount of difference? Thanks

Too much work ;)
But you may try to find some features:
- moving clouds
- moving sun
- track reflects sun depending on view angle
- rubbered tarmac reflects sun in other way than 'clean' one
- car body reflects environmental and sun light
- car windows are shaded depending on sun view angle. It goes milky when looking against the sun
- persistent headlights and long range headlights on demand
and more (check rsc forum for more)

here are simply comparison how car may looks like depending on shaders.
First shot using common rF shaders. Second one is from real word. Third one is shaded with shaders by K Szczech (It's from SimracingPL FIA GT 2010 mod)

As you can see it is realy easy to get good results. there is no need to use super-hiper gfx engine but one should be ready to improve it. rF1 has some limitations about which complete book may be written. So we hope that rF2 will be free of those.

Yeah those shaders are really great and I hope the last big mods and tracks in rf1 will feature as many of them as possible.

BTW: Looking at the clouds today in reallife made me think they don't need to scroll or move... The become lively because of the different heights. Thats why some of them past you faster and some higher clouds past you slower while driving. Thats all! So if we would create a track with 3 skyboxes and only the outer one is non-transparent, the 2 inner boxes could have different heights. That should create a realistic feel... Just some thoughts from a semi-modder what ever I am *g*

Those are amazing results. Congratulations to all of the people involved. Is there any tracks or game mods to test them?

Absolutely. I've spent thousands and thousands of hours playing rF since it came out and it's better all the time thanks to Jan and all the rest of the folks who've dedicated so much time and effort producing great mods for all of us to enjoy.

Since i started to race online, in 2000:

2000-->2002 GPL
2002-->2003 N02
2003-->2005 N03
2005-->2010 rF

I cant believe i raced 5 years with a single sim ... in 2005 Win98 was still a common OS, Vista and Win7 were in the dreams of MS, ie 5 years is an huge amount of time for a software.

But the whole community was able to build something of magic .... a game which will be remembered in the sim racing history like the most succesfull after GPL (and GPL was alone in the market, without competitor games)

Long life to rF, the magic of the community dedition to a great dream!

Said that, cant wait for rF2 :p

5 Years Later and I still love rfactor!
Best damn racing sim in history.

It does it all , Dirt , F1 , Nascar , Point to point Racing , Rally , Sports Car , Open Wheel and on and on.

Thousands of Tracks that cost nothing .
Best Damn Multiplayer code ever .

Pits that actually work and fix the car.
Setups that can be changed during the race with proper adjustments.
Weather that changes during the race.
Lighting effects on the tracks that change as time goes on.
Racing for anyone who wants to race ..

Modding that you and I can do.

Exports that work well with other programs and points systems.
Runs on Old and New computers and handles dual core systems with ease.
Is not a FPS Hog and can look as good as any other sim.

15 Deg of physics that can handle just about anything you throw at it.
15 Deg Physics and that is 9 more motions than the closest competitor .

Did I mention the working pit crew ?
ASR is based off of my favorite sim and is also the Best Stock Car physics out there period.

Oh yea and Live Track can now be used with RF. That means the groove moves as the race goes on.

Again I must say I love rFactor......

Just to much here not to use it and it only cost me 39.95.
