Missing MSS32.DLL is not missing.

Attempting to install the F patch on DVD vs1.255 (XP). Game will not run because MSS32.DLL is missing...but it isn't missing. It is where is is supposed to be. Tried reinstalling game 3 times. Tried another version of the file but nothing seems to work. Would appreciate any suggestions. Tks

Mine lists as version 7.0.4.0 and is 379 KB (388,096 bytes). Check that the dll file has Read and Execute permissions for the account you are using. Also check that the shortcut you launch rFactor from has the rFactor program folder as working directory. If it still doesn't work, then I'm out of ideas.

When prompted to update directx during the installation of rfactor, select YES.

Another solution would be to use this webinstaller which will automatically update your dx to the newest.

I prefer this over the isi package, because it always installs up to the newest.

This is not Direct X problem. Mss32.dll is not a part of direct x. The only solution is downloading strictly this file, for example from http://fix4dll.com/mss32_dll and adding it to your system/windows32 folder and root game folder. I don't know the right place, that's why try both.
