Samsung external USB DVD drive won't read DVD

r0j

Hi,

Just bought the 1.255 DVD version from Amazon and it appears that my external USB DVD drive won't read the DVD. The drive has no problems with other DVDs and the DVD works in other DVD drives (e.g. my work laptop). I'm running windows 7 (64bit) and the drive is a Samsung SE-S164.

Is there anything I can do?

I feel like a bit of an idiot buying this game so close to Rfactor 2 being released and not even being able to play the thing!

Dom.

Safedisc

Thanks,

I disabled my AV and that didn't make any difference, still can't even read the disc at all, so I guess I must have a Safedisc incompatible DVD drive.

Is there any work around or do I just have an expensive drinks coaster?

Dom.

(edit for typo)

Make sure you don't have any disc copy/emulation software installed. You could check the manufacturer's website for a firmware update and driver update. Failing that, you could contact the place of purchase and ask about a refund and tell them your drive is not capable of reading it, then purchase the digital download version.

I downloaded updated firmware from the Samsung website for my DVD drive and it worked fine!

Thanks.
