Spare mounting arm for Logitech Driving Force GT

MikeeCZ

Hi, one of the mounting arms holding the wheel on the table has broken on my wheel, after contancting the Logitech i have basically been told to sodd off, even tho the wheel still is supposed to have 14 months of manufacturer warranty left. So i am making this thread to ask if there isnt somebody who has an old DFG at home no longer in use who would send/sell me both of the mounting arms for it as the rest of the wheel is still spot on.
Its is the two parts that hold the wheel to the table, the wheels plastic lid needs to be taken off in order to get them out of the wheel, there is like 6-8 screwes at the bottom that need to be unscrewed.

Is there anybody who could help me please?

My location is UK, so closer, better

PS: i own the second version of DFG, the one with the red dial on it

I opened up my old Logitech Momo wheel, not sure if they would be the same or not.
But bad news, I found I could not even get the arms out. I made a video to show you why....

No help there sorry, but I tried. Can you get yours out ok, I mean if it was not broken?

You might need drill holes in your nice wooden desk is an option :D.

Hi Cruicky, thank you very much for all that efford. Those arms seem to be the exact same ones my wheel uses, to get them out on my wheel, you need first move them as down as possible and than sort of angle them out in direction to align them with the wheels cases bottom, and than remove them outwards

Mine did the same thing, and I can confirm the Black Momo mounts are identical. My suggestion is to hit ebay for broken wheels.

did check it out, but there isnt anything really anything for price i am willing to pay

No worry I will get you sorted.
Had a go again, still not possible to remove without getting the hack saw out. Don't know if the square block at the bottom of the clamp comes off or not.

Have you tried looking in your tool box for a Mini G-Clamp to replace your arm thing?
I guess you already tried super glue, i mean not just glue where the crack is, but also super glue strips of plastic down the full length both sides to give it strength etc? I found the thin plastic from old 3.5 inch floppy discs is always great for that.
Screw mount your wheel?
If you tried all but failed, I'll see what I can do with this Momo one for you. Not both, I'll be keeping the other in case I do the same with my G27 (touch wood), they look the same on that wheel too :D.

Hi Mikee

I have an old DFGT - previous version no red dial - sat in the attic. Let me know if that is any use to you. Postage only.

Cheers

Thank you, the squary bit can come off by twisting it to one side or another, very easily actually, and can be clipped back on with no efford at all.
The superglue option i havent even tried as i know that it would not hold. The wheel needs to be mounted to the table very tight in order not to move around and especially not to come off the table in the middle of the race (has happened to me before)
I am also a plastic model builder and i use only the best superglues available (Loctite Ultra Gel and Power Flex) and i know that even such glue would not stand a chance to hold to such weird kind of plastic the clamps are made of.

I most definetly do not have any G-clamps at home and i am scared to buy one wihout know if it would fit. (given the fact that the the logitech clamp has a big hexagony knob comming out the of wheels case, i am certain that clamps from your link would maybe be usable, but only in case that i would want my wheel to be fitted permamently, but i need to be able to remove the wheel in order to use the computer for my work too.

EDIT: PMed Bumble

EDIT2: After contacting Bumble it seems that he will be so kind to help me and will send me both of his logitech clamps. I simply cant thank enough and i dont know how can i return the favour. Big Thank you Dave (Bumble)

Logitech's customer support seems to be all or nothing.
I've heard of guys having wheels replaced months after warranty...others have had the exact opposite experience.
Why they don't sell replacement parts on a limited basis is beyond me.
It'd be a 'cash cow'.

Yes the first guy on the phone told me that if i wont be able to get it sorted with the retailer i got it from, they will sort it out, so i contacted the retailer only to discover they no longer do the bussiness, so i called again and some other guy told me they will do nothing to help

I had a very similar experience with my Momo Force.
An Escalation officer agreed it should not have failed like it did during power-on self calibration. She asked me to call her back if tech support did not have a solution.
It took T/S fourteen days to send me a reply from the initial call and pictures I'd sent.
On day fifteen I called to speak to the escalation officer and was told she had left the company.
I'm now looking elsewhere for my next wheel.

Indeed, i have a big range of logitech products and this was my first time i had to deal with their customer care, now knowing that i cannot be sure about Logitech, my next wheel will probably be T500

(but thanks to Bumble i dont have to buy it now, i will when the wheel trully dies tho)

So today i recieved a post with two of these spare arms from Bumble, i would like to Thank him as much as i can for this, I cannot believe that somebody who has never heard of me has done such beautiful favour for me.

Thank you sir thank you very much

In a worst case scenario, I can probably build a 3D solid for someone to print. I don't think we are to that point yet.
