Top-down racers

We've seen a bit of a resurgence lately with top-down racers. It seems WRC Powerslide was an attempt, but only with Art of Rally did someone make that concept work in a way that is truly enjoyable.

I really used to enjoy Ironman Super Off-Road as a kid, and Supercars II was a classic. Are there any other modern (or even historic ones) you remember that were just such fun to play?

Well I was Slick'n'Slides fanboy back in the 90's and we played it a lot with friends. Was kinda growded with 4 players and one keyboard :D

With this in mind I made my own game Super Slide Racer for android (you can look it up at play store). Would be nice to have really good sliding innit but it is what it is.. :)

And I also played Skidmarks (by Acid Software) for Amiga before I changed to PC world and was thrown to Slicks..

Literally never heard of that title... I do find it familiar though, so I wonder if there was a clone released I might have played!

I loved it back in the day. The track editor was basically just a paint programme :)

Generally was played liberally in the office I worked in 18 years ago, kind of a freeware Slicks'n'Slide.

Generally was built on the RSC forums at first, so were the Piboso sims apparently as well. Sadly all this info is long gone.

Be sure to add 88mphTim on Steam as multiplayer works nicely. :)

CS is honestly really nicely done. The thing that really made me chuckle to myself was seeing other players revving their engines like mad before the race started after I'd figured out that used fuel and would probably make their strategy a lap short.

Reading through this thread brought back memories of playing Slicks 'n' Slide and Skidmarks with friends. The simplicity of top-down racers offers a unique charm that's hard to find in modern games. Recently, I've been exploring some Android racing games that capture that nostalgic feel. In the process, I stumbled upon https://drivezonlineapk.com/for-pc/, which has a collection of modded racing games reminiscent of those classics. It's been a fun trip down memory lane!
