Track options gone

vitamin

Yesterday everything was fine with my fresh rFactor install, but today I noticed that two options for track choosing menu are gone. IIRC, there should be 'track detail' and 'shadow detail' buttons at the bottom of the screen but now they are missing somehow - please see image below:

Did I press some keys accidentally and hide them maybe? Or it's something a bit more complicated?

I think you just got lost in the menu's. track detail and shadows sound like graphical options which can be found in Customize/Settings/Display.

The window of your screenshot does not have such options.
Unless you are referring to the 'Circuit Information' window in the screenshot. that info is track dependant, some tracks have a few lines, others have whole essays innit.

Yes, it does:)

But you're right - by default these options are not available (don't know why though - IMO they're pretty handy in this place). I had to uninstall the game and install it again to find out about it. So it looks like some mods can do this magic. But how to bring these options back after they're gone - does anyone know?

Can it be that you've used another mod when the extra-buttons appeared?

I think the buttons can only appear when a mod has an own customized UI.

Bingo! I had to uninstall the game and install it again to find out about that. And after installing HRC mod these buttons appeared again:)

But it looks like some mods can also disable these options (which sucks because IMO they're very handy there). So my question would be - is there any way to bring them back after they're gone?

That's it:) I didn't know that some mods can do this trick. But on the other hand, others can revert it back to default. So now my question would be - can I change the UI to whatever I want to?

I don't know how big your skills with rFactor are...

All needed files are in the UIData folder including subfolders "movies" and "UISounds".

For grafically changes, extract (and compress again when job is done) the *.mas files and customize the textures.
Change Menue Sounds by simply changing the files in the UISounds-folder.
Same with Movies.
For structure, format and functionally changes, edit the UI.OSC file.

All these files are used as default from rFactor, as long as a mod don't refers to another UIData.

My skills are equal to zero I'm afraid but with your help I think I can do it:) Thank you very much for all information.

Yes, but you'll have to do some work when it's "gone".

Like i told you, the files and both folders ("movies" and "UISounds") in the UIData folder are taken as default from rFactor.

The UI with the additional buttons, you want to have as default, is a customized UI from the HRC mod.
Now move to the rfm-folder and open the *.rfm-file from the mod.
You'll find some lines like:
OSCFile=XXXXXX.OSC
OptionsDir=UIDATA\XXXXXX

Take the whole content of the folder that is set at "OptionsDir=" including the *.OSC file and copy it into a new folder (call it "my favorite UI" for example).
Now rename the *.OSC-file into UI.OSC and copy the whole content of the "my favorite UI"-folder into the UIData-folder of the game and overwrite the existing files (you can backup the original ones, to keep them available fast).

Now every mod without an own UI will use it.

When it is gone again, you will have to open the *.rfm-file of the actually loaded mod and look in which folder the UI from the mod is and what the name (if there is another name set at "OSCFile=") of the *.OSC-file is.

If necessary, rename the *.OSC-file in your "my favorite UI"-folder and copy the whole content into the folder that is set at "OptionsDir=" in the *.rfm-file of the mod.

I hope i didn't forget something, but normally it should work.

Thank you very much for these very detailed instructions. BTW, I don't know what I did lately but I messed up something with instant reply screen. It used to have some info on top like in picture below but now it's gone:( Could you tell me please how to turn it on again?

Sorry, i watch replays too seldom and i've never seen the line, you had on your screen.
But when it was there and now is gone, maybe you hit a button by mistake, which sets it to "off".

But i have no idea which button it could be or what else can bring it back.

One thing: maybe it was again a mod with a customized UIData. Do you remember which mod you had selected when the sreen showed up in that way?

Yes, you are right. I reinstalled rFactor and this info didn't show up in replays. But now I got HD UI by aysberg installed and the game looks much better. This is how it should look in vanilla game IMO. Little thing but makes things right -highly recommended.
