V8 Supercars

MarcG

Any other LOVERS out there? Got addicted to these brutes in 2005 and not missed a race since, watched as much of the Bathurst 1000 Live as I could every eyar before my eyes failed me (starts about midnight our time).
Kelly Racing fan as I love JD but not too sure about their switch next season, Holden man you see even though I like Fords as well :p

Reckon Whincup has got a run for his money this season in Will, Frosty needs a couple strong results too to get going again but I'm sure he'll be a threat later in the season.

(Loved V8Factor/Unleashed for rF1 and hope ORSM eventually get around to modding for RF2!)

I'm a casual fan of this series. We don't get it televised over here so I can only follow it over the net. It really is some great racing.

my god I love Hidden Valley, fantastic track and provided some suberp racing this past weekend. Special credits to Caruso for that brilliant drive on the Sunday and Lowndes overall.

I am fan of v8 cars. But i don't have, and it give me hurt. I have plan to convert my corolla in v8,mean wrap and bumper shapes etc. what you think is it good idea?

So what do we think of 2013 so far.

Scott McLaughlin, 19 years old, 6 outings and he claims his first win. :)

Loving the performance of the NZ drivers :D I'm a huge Nissan fan so I can't wait for them to get their power up to the fords and holdens, they're doing really good for brand new cars that are down on power. Anyone know what the story was with the ecu (timing?) issue causing all the DQs?

Bit of an old thread, but yep I am a fan of this series & even more so now with Nissan & Merc's being involved. I guess I'm a bit old school from the days of the V8's mixing it up with other classes (remember the ATCC?) so to have some new manufactures I think is a good thing as well as some of the new drivers.

V8 Supercar drivers are mostly from the development series that is similar to the V8 Series. though some do come from other racing forms but mostly for the enduros. All races but two are in Australia. One round each in New Zealand and at Bahrain.

FYI I'm heading half way round the world to see Bathurst and the Gold Coast events...THAT'S how much I love V8SC :D

yeah walked the track, Dipper is Steeper as is the approach to Forest Elbow but only going by what I've raced in RF1/RF2 (so not laser scanned), not tried other sims.
Simpy Amazing track, so steep when walking up Mountian Straight into the Castrol then The Cutting too, I've walked up Eau Rouge too so know how TV doesn't translate the sheer height changes that you see when you're there.

Met lots of drivers too, inculding having my breakfast cooked for me by Whincup, Lowndes & Richards + was on the Grid for the 1000 which was an incredible experience...well the whole trip was incredible!

Best touring cars in the world with the worlds best mountain track. so glad FVR have made the V8's for RF2, they are working on the 2014 V8 MOD hopefully out by the start of the 2015 V8's season.

Glad to hear you enjoyed it Marc and Gold Coast great perv

sounds like a great experience!!! man, I'm getting jealous.....

well, at least from most parts of your post, because when I read "I've walked up Eau Rouge too" my legs are starting to hurt again :p

yeah the track walk took about an hour and a half but i was snapping pics all over the place! GC was good but as with all street circuits the view is limited, the V8s going over the Beach Chicance though...WOW...seeing them literally millimetres from the wall and clouting the curbs to go on two wheels or lift all four off the ground, stunning viewing!
And the gear change BANGS, like gunshots going off one after another, no game as yet properly created that exact sound and the sheer loudness of it!

Good to see Ambrose back there. NASCAR wasn't his gig and to be honest it's very rare someone makes a successful transition into NASCAR from other forms of motorsport.

He dominated Watkins Glen

Showed Yanks how to drive road.

Who would make V8 supercars and win a race from there ? lmao

There is no doubt he is an excellent road racer. He had a chance to win at every road event but that is only two per year. Not everybody is a Mario Andretti, who was able to win in pretty much anything he tried, road, oval etc.

And bringing Penske with him no less! How bout a Yank driver in car #2;)

MarcG they don't hear that BANG in the car. so it would have to be an external sound for replays not internal sound from the cockpit that's why you don't have it in any mod. beach chicane is the best viewing area and so much camber on the road its not funny.

yeah knew that I mean the external sound (sorry did'nt explain that in the first place), would be bloody good if mod teams would add it in, would make for great replays :)
haha yeah that camber was unreal!

Had 10 days holiday at Gold Coast with the V8s in between so went on the Sunday, but on the Wednesday before, had to drive around back section of the track to get over to the marina spit etc and didn't realise how narrow the track is, they do a fantastic job at the speeds they do.
but to top it all off, my son is a big V8s and all forms of motorsports fan and we had been talking about how well Nick Percat and Oliver Gavin went at Bathurst and we wondered if they would go any good at the GC.
To cut a long story short, we got up early to get to the track, we had fanstand passes but you need to get there early for a good spot, went down to jump on the tram and after we got on, my son said see who got on after us, I turned around and it was Nick Percat, Oliver Gavin and Adrian Burgess, so I asked if I could get a pic with my son and they said yeah no worries lol.
Nothing like being part of probably one of or if not the biggest motor racing outfits in Australia and they still get the tram to work lol.

P.S With the odd chance that a Bathurst winner, a Le Mans winner and a Brilliant Engineer are into RFactor 2, thanks very much guys lol.

Still waiting for you to get RF2 and a rig for your kid. I know why you wont . he'd kick ya butt!! :p

I saw some of the Red bull team and then the Volvo lads including Scott Mac and Premat walking to the GC track on Thursday morning, didn't bother them for a pic though as I was too busy taking in the view!

Ha Ha very funny lol, he's an Xboxer, can't convert him so he can buy his own lol. We drove up there so on the way back we diverted to Bathurst so he could drive around the track, he is on his learners so he was wrapt .

I always wondered how console users steer sims comfortably. >>>

Well laying butt up face first gaffer taped to a V8 bonnet with a XBox controller in ya hands couldn't be good surely. ? p

lool ;)

Wildcard Marcos Ambrose has successfully made it to the finish line in his first V8 Supercars race after nine years racing NASCAR in the USA, finishing 20th in the Xbox Ford Falcon FG II.

The two-time category champion was philosophical about the result, which came after he made a mistake in qualifying and crashed, meaning he started down the back.

But it also meant he had an entertaining race with his former Stone Brothers Racing team-mate Russell Ingall.
"I certainly feel better about doing all these laps and I was disappointed with myself in qualifying when I clipped the wall."

"I was trying to be a good boy out there, I was following my old mate Russell and we had a bit of a stoush.

"The biggest issue was the window net kept falling down and I had to keep putting that back up during the race. So I had my hands full there just trying to understand things, new car gremlins and all that."
.............

Well that season ended on a low point due to the rain, but well done Whingecup and The Gis for snatching 2nd spot. Drive Of The Season to Scotty Mac for me (aside of J-Dub obviously) for his qually performances and getting that Volvo to the top step, already got my eyes on the 1/18 scale model of it!

Event of the year? has to be Bathurst, not just becuase I was there but it was an Epic Epic race. Booking my tickets for it early in the New Year....yes Australia....I shall be back :)

Marc,

I think you understand me and do not block me.

One Lan a few mates and I came up with the idea of hiring a little generator and camping up the top of the mountain and racing F1C in a decent Tent. :) lol

Over months it became a monster and a few mates with lots of help almost got it off the ground level.

Idea was to sponsor kids from Bathurst Hospital we called it " LaN 4 KiDS " had stickers and tags and T Shirts designed by a UK guy and others.

We had interest from various parties including Council, sponsors and V8, we were making a transfer for the cars as well.

V8 drivers have sick kids too ;)

You can imagine where it went, F1 flooring, walk through tent for people to watch, big screens, V8 drivers up of a night to race, little generator become 2 ton + :p

Kids from hospital would visit at set times, met some drivers and we were making them their own drive-able mod and track with names etc.

Screen shooters were going to do big prints and frame and auction for charity signed by drivers.

We had a satellite dish sponsor, a professional race photographer coming from UK and a mate from Sweden was going to cook us a Pig.

Chanel Ten (TV) at the time were really interested and said they would look at covering it, then we would have had Ariel shots of sponsors banners on tent to 1,000,000 + local viewers. lol

Although it was only at a feasibility stage we had to stop taking driver names. ;)

I would love to be involved in something like that again and bring it to reality.

Imagine the night lans with real drivers ............lock the crowds out lol

Maybe 30 Drivers how cool.

Sounds awesome mate, I saw a few of the little train generators and one had a G25 on the front of it!

Well F3-ROOKIES has never changed from the very first build, neither has my opinions or demeanor.

That is just me, take it or leave it.

Anyone knows me I bear no grudges, I do not have a block list.

Sort of funny blocklists, how many of the 96 views here you think are from those types ?

Otherwise I must have a lot of friends ?
