Varano de'Melegari 2010 (v1.3) - Released

elwood

Varano de'Melegari 2010 (v1.4) - rF and GTR2.

Ok, both sim now got five layouts, four real and one done for fun, a Gimkana track.
This will be my last release of something related to this racetrack, i'll wait rF2 and anyway.
There are new modification planned for august and the main straight was enlarged +3meters on the left side during march, so i'll wait until works will be consolidated and obviously, rF2.

what a nice christmas present, thanx :D an already great track became even better.

cool effect with the billboarding. like SRBs in the GPL tracks.

one little bug though, the spectators have chroma blend pixels 3 instead of 1, which gives a seam to the transparency.

markus ;-)

Thanks very much! Haven't had a chance to drive it yet but it looks lovely.

It's a great short track, I love testing cars on it. One thing though, it gets really bumpy in some sections of the track.

Varano is bumpy as any other racetrack, expecially in brakezones the tarmac became ondulated due to the forces released by the car's wheels during braking.
I've taking care of this aspect in those years consulting real drivers and bikers taking their suggestions because i can run on it only with a standard road car and at low speed.
For example, the kerbs reaction, in the sim, are a lot softer on the steer and on the chassis in general, even if are -10cm like the real one.
With my road car every kerb is BRBRBRBRBRBRBRB .. shaky... a lot... i can't imagine on a stiff single seater.
Imo many sim tracks are too flat, a simulated racetrack it's not matter of graphic aspect only. :)
The physic aspect of the road is not so evident but really important for me.

Excellent Track, has to be one of the top 10 if not top 5 Rfactor tracks, up with the likes of VLM Mid Ohio and Le Mans, Com 8s Laguna Seca, Race Kings Suzuka and Oran Park LIdar.

Just a brilliant track to race and practise on, thanks .

I'll second FatCity's comment... definitely in the top 5 and it keeps getting better! Elwood, your dedication to modeling this track is amazing and appreciated.
