Windows 7 problems

Hi all,

I recently bought a new computer with Windows 7 installed. My old computer was Windows XP and rFactor always ran fine on it.. I saved my rFactor install on a flash drive and put it in program files on the new computer. Everything worked fine except that it didn't matter what track I selected in the game the only track that would load was Spa 67. OK, I uninstalled that from my computer and downloaded a new game from here, I got a new product key and I thought everything would be fine, WRONG. The game installed OK BUT there was no UserData folder, so I uninstalled that and reinstalled the game, same thing. I sure hope someone can help me with this. Thanks.
 
Shut down the da_mn Windows UAC. :D

Sorry but this UAC is the biggest Bulls... that Microsoft ever has done.


I don't remember exactly where the missing folder(s) can be found. One Member of our Community has had the same Problem long time ago.

But putting the UAC to the lowest level and install rFactor again should help.
 
Yes, I did shut down UAC and I finally found the missing folders and I did reinstall rFactor but I still have the problems with the tracks not loading. I don't know what's going on!!!! Thanks for your help.
 
Whats up with the track-loading?
Don't the tracks appear in the menue or do they appear but you get error-messages when loading?

If they don't appear:
In the rFactor Main folder you'll find a file called "Config.ini".
Open it and search the line:
(Default is)TracksDir=GAMEDATA\LOCATIONS\
and control if the given folder-path matches your existing folder-path where all your tracks are in. If not, change it.

... what also can be is, when a speacial mod restricts the use of tracks. Does it happen with all mods?
 
Well, it's really odd, everything shows up in the game, all the tracks, vehicles, etc., etc. and the game runs fine but it doesn't matter what track I select the same track comes up all the time. That one track is the only one that will load. When the track loads I can go and drive like usual but I can only get that one track to load. Never had anything like this happen before. It's really weird.
 
Really strange, indeed.
Let me ask again: does it happen with all mods?
And the game is running in "full" mode and not in demo-mode?
Although i don't know how many tracks can be driven in demo-mode. :)

tried 'all tracks and mods mode'?

Also double check the Gamedata/Locations Folder, if it is structured correctly. it might be one level up or down or even individual tracks being oddly placed.
Typically a track folder within Locations is just that, a track folder.
With the exception of a track-pack like the GP79 folder being in Locations and within it the individual tracks.

Doesn't look like a series/allcars issue because even within a unique series you can still select and use all available tracks if I remember correctly.
