IMHO its a bit arcade like
You say it:
Assetto Corsa additional to my game collection
rF2 additional to my simulator collection
rF2 is my benchmark and it still inflates our egos just a little bit.*Tim even said rF2 isn't as punishing as it should be WRT to the tire model.
In some ways yes, in others no. Imo ac has better selection of cars and tracks and I also prefer the way cars drive in ac, but then again ac does not have real road, rain, night racing and all the other cool features rf2 has.. But really you should get them both and play the one you prefer.
I think this "strange" behaviour has something to do with "being part of..."!
Everyone want´s to be a part of a group somehow, needs advise and leading.
That is human nature....
I love when this forum goes philosophic...![]()
no, laserscanned is just what it is, lasserscanned tracks (which rF2 doesn't have btw)what is realroad?
is laserscanned not realroad?

Except for the LiDAR Laguna Seca that I think is being worked on...and possibly the updated Silverstone, as it is quite stunning. There is nothing to stop someone using laser scan or lidar data to build their track, it is just a different way of modelling the track. Maybe ISI has some industry source that will give them accurate data on a track surface. Maybe they have found that traditional survey techniques are more than capable of gathering all the required info.
The interesting thing with laser scanning is how much the track surface changes. With cold and hot weather along with different racing series using the track, you find bumps shifting place on the track, bumps appearing in previously smooth areas, braking areas getting heavily corrugated, etc.

You know you are flatly stating a shortcoming of laserscanning right? The interesting thing with laser scanning is how much the track surface changes. peterchen is absolut gaylord
at this point I think many here are just prevented about AC.. if we talk about GT cars, put hard tires (in reality this is the compound that they use), sends the car in oversteer, and try to recover it.. it is much easier do it in RF2 ..The point is even someone who knows what they are doing can't catch a slide with ease when they feel it begin if the car is already being pushed hard. AC makes those that don't know any better believe they can do stuff that would give a pro a hard time.
I somewhat agree. I'll copy and paste what I wrote on a very similiar thread titled "Assetto corsa not a Pure sim" http://insidesimracing.tv/forums/topic/12562-assetto-corsa-not-a-pure-sim/The magic in AC and GT and even Forza for that matter is the illusion you could do the same thing in real life.
Lose a car at speed and it is not easy to reel it back in even for a professional:

I've done a lot of laps at CMP and this is the part of the track that puts hair on your chest every single lap. The video above shows JJ spinning a Corvette at the kink. It requires full throttle once you enter to keep the rear from stepping out. Full commitment or you spin (unless you are going so slow the car isn't loaded up, then I'd suggest a new hobby). Even in a moderate sports car with street tires you enter at 90mph and then keep it floored.

AC makes those that don't know any better believe they can do stuff that would give a pro a hard time. Not digging on AC but I don't consider it a sim. rF2 is my benchmark and it still inflates our egos just a little bit.*Tim even said rF2 isn't as punishing as it should be WRT to the tire model.
it is the same also in AC, but only when you are pushing:they just can't believe that cars can be so tricky, edgy, on the limit, hyper sensitive to your inputs etc.
Yep this exactly, AC is far from perfect, alot of physic quirks i don't like but i also have alot of quirks i don't like in rF2. I find driving hard and fast in rF2 more exciting and engaging but i hate the slow hairpin physics of alot of cars, maybe real life car characteristics rather than a physics flaw but i feel it's more a flaw, rF1 was the same. AC feels fantastic and gives me fantastic confidence and feel in the slow areas but feels a little numb and unexciting going fast and attacking. This is why i enjoy the GSC physics as it has the raw edgy feel of rF2 when attacking but has the slow stuff nailed aswell. Just content i don't really enjoy much in GSCSome cars in AC feels great and some one feels bad and the same with rfactor 2!
http://www.kegetys.fi/joux-plane-for-assetto-corsa-from-richard-burns-rally/What is this track? Is it available yet or private?
Would be great to see some footage as you speak a good game, you kind of sound semi pro
Well yes that was kind of my point of asking really. I could come on here and say i have driven this and that, it proves nothing, if you have some footage or whatever it makes you much more believable IMO than just saying i raced a DTM and i raced an F1 ( i know he didn't say these two ). I keep reading the same from this guy so am interested in seeing some stuff as he seems to hold himself in high esteem. Alot of what is written can be taken from many number of racing books etc.Best of luck. Anyone who knows details like the SCCA license needed and the costs can bet someone is living a forum fantasy based on posts that don't add up. You need a fair amount of experience to even get in these cars to begin with. You certainly aren't learning the basics as you go unless you buy a used one and track it at a test and tune session locally while working on achieving the proper license requirements. Never mind these cars don't come cheap.
I think that road cars feels great in AC
This is my lap(for example)
Well, it isa road car and I was not even pushing! I made this video to show how good is the physics of the road cars in AC!I´ve lost how many times you get out of ideal line and easily keep going.

i think it's just habitude at a simulator rather than to another, AC is great for me, and it's the best as feeling of driving, expecially with some cars
I would however be interested in seeing some footage from someone like spinelli or kendra attacking a lap in AC or rF2 to see how much he does push, can't find any info with either name on RSR. Also would be interested in seeing some footage from his real life ventures. Lotus EXOS sounds right up his street with his real life experience
EDIT: found you, missed the end "i" out first time. Would be great to see some footage as you speak a good game, you kind of sound semi pro
I don't if it is easy or not and I have driven a race car or a road car in the limit, but I like it!"You can really feel the car, the tires and the limit!"
You comment just below the video. I´m not bashing how you drive GT wadji, just pointing how easy AC looks on video.

a race car shouldn't/doesn't have to be difficult to drive, this idea that difficulty = realism is rudimentary. By the way ac's dynamic racing line isn't implemented yet, kunos said currently the whole course is set to optimal grip.
