Motorsport Vids

I stayed up to watch P2 last night. I'm a casual F1 fan and the wet track sure made it interesting to watch.

Great. How many hp does American tf dragsters have? I guess much more than European. Cheers [emoji6]

In the 1960's Top Fuel Dragsters produced 2,500 Horsepower

Today Top Fuel Dragsters and Funny Cars are "estimated" to develop 10,000 Horsepower.

They can only guess ( use equations ) as no dynamometer in the world can test them.

Horsepower greatly depends on tuning for a myriad of conditions, certain tracks and conditions may well require less power.

If you look at a full series at KMan plenty of the qualifying rounds have in depth sessions on every facet of the cars.
Some of the technology and problem solving is as good as anything.

Drag racing opens it's doors to the public you can stand feet from cars and watch engines stripped rebuilt and run in 40 minutes.

Article " The 10,000HP Engine " ( Matco Tools Team is owned by Don Schumacher Racing and are 2015 World Champions)........
http://www.motoiq.com/MagazineArticles/ID/3099/Nerds-Eye-View--Inside-10000-horsepower.aspx

The 14-71 supercharger is so big and robust that it takes a Viper engine's worth of horsepower to run it.
lol :D

Mason reports the Matco Tools team does use a torque-measuring device in the rear differential, and it has spiked to 12,000 lb-ft of torque at times.

That will propel you from standing to 100mph in 0.8 seconds.

P.S. How about that Pro Stock Final !
Erica running a "perfect light" for the second time in a year.
Guy next to her pulls a 0.015 reaction time and still gets beat. lol

Ok thanks for the info. :) here in Germany there is just one event per year. It's in hockenheim an by far the most impressive motorsport event I've ever been. I love the tf dragsters. But nhra cars seems to be much more brutal xD

Well Germany needs a world class full-time dragstrip then. :)

Or would that flaunt green air policy ?

Fuel pumps are rated for 100 gallons a minute....

On a run they burn 1.2 gallons per second.......slightly more than the average fuel consumption of a fully loaded, airborne Boeing 747.

lol

Hundred vw less a year and Greenpeace would allow a full time drag strip in Germany. On the rico anthes quarter mile there is just one European drag racing round...but it's a good glued two lane drag strip with a real Christmas tree and not just a airfield [emoji14] I think it's a good start so far...so golfs and tf dragster seems to have the same fuel consumption [emoji16] [emoji6]

See some interesting insight into 2016 Rules changes and garage.

Go Jerry !@!

I like to see Harley win but Jerry is such a nice unassuming guy.
